For the last 6 years I have been working in the heart of the Payments industry with Mastercard. I have worked on systems that sit on the critical path of the authorization flow, connecting thousands of banks world wide and enabling commerce.
This has given me an excellent insight into how the entire payments eco system works, and if you are a not for profit operating in Ireland, I would be delighted to advise you and assist you with the most cost effective way to take electronic payments.
An efficient payment system can accept credit card payments with a charge of about 1.45% + 20c pef transaction, that's about half of what you would get charged on GoFundMe, and less than a third of what popular irish services like iDonate and iFundraise would charge.
If you are large enough to have your own merchant account in place, then the fees will vary depending on the volume of transactions you are processing. You could do even better on debit cards.
Either way, I'd be delighted to work with you to implement the most cost effective solution to allow you to collect donations online.
